Modern/Contemporary Condo Remodel, Downtown, Seattle, WA

Interior Design & Decor – Space Planning, Paint Color Scheme and Placement, Hardwood Flooring, Carpeting Specifications, Lighting Fixtures, Furnishings, Styling, Project Management

The cranes are everywhere in the downtown core of Seattle. With residential high-rise living on the “high-rise”, condominiums and apartments offer the latest in luxury and convenience. It is interesting to think that those residential towers built in the 1990s are the ones that need remodeling now, so as to keep up with what is new, cutting edge, and contemporary in Seattle. The high-rise community of One Pacific Towers is one such place. This 1200 square foot condo on the tenth floor was in need of an update from the old and tired original construction. We chose to work with Eric and his crew at Peterson Works LLC; from the installation of white ash engineered hardwood flooring, a new overall paint color scheme, 100% wool carpeting in the bedrooms, this condominium is transformed into a new contemporary Seattle classic.
Part of our mission was to replace the clunky library built-in with something special and eye catching. We selected Yuval Sofer at YS Built, a representative for Leicht, the fabulous German cabinetry line, to work with us to design something inspiring.
Combining Corbusier colors, textures and materials to create a handsome and functional built in, this unit is meant for library and entertainment. The uppers house this client’s coveted book collection while the lower cabinets are deep drawers in concrete finish, smoothly sliding in and out for storage
From furnishings to lighting fixtures, our interior design for these clients is calming and serene. This includes the Crescent Sofa from Camerich, Calagaris ceramic top table and chairs, the Flight Recliner from Design Within Reach and area rugs in floating patterns from manufacturers such as Kas, Kalaty and Generations. We also incorporated the Landscape chandelier from Hubbardton Forge that can be dimmed for entertaining.
With just the right Farrow and Ball wall color selections and placement, combined with the natural light, the paint job refreshes everything! Baseboards are painted the same color as the walls, Farrow and Ball “Blackened”, to create unity of space. The ceiling is warm, “Wimborne White”, cutting down on the glare of the sky and water of Elliot Bay. We even painted the guest room Murphy Bed Oval Room Blue, giving the room the feeling of air. What a treat it is to design with “real art” – an original Picasso, a Jacob Lawrence, and two MC Escher prints! When the room is quiet in color and mood, it allows the artwork to speak, and gives us great satisfaction as designers to finesse this!
