Downtown Seattle High-Rise, Stratus Apartments, MCM Interior Design

Space Planning, Furniture Selections, Décor, Color, Lighting, Art Collections and Display

We had helped this client furnish a Seattle apartment a couple of years back, and then worked with him to jazz up his San Diego condominium. Now, that his life had changed once again, he moved to another swanky building in downtown Seattle. Again, he opted for a Mid-Century Modern design, a look that is always deliciously glam and playful.
Cerulean Blues run like a pop color thread though-out the room, binding cohesive elements together, speaking as part of the paintings, cylinder lamp, X-Bench, and the area rug. It has been enjoyable collecting local glass art and this yellow orb called “Strip Flat TIre” and created by Alex Stisser, became a focal point to the room. A display pedestal was custom built by artist, Jonathan Clarren, to light up this glass “Flat Tire” using LEDs glowing in the corner of the room. For being so small, this apartment is ample. Defining the Entryway with a Flor Carpet Tile runner, the great-room layout calls us to design vignettes for area definition. The Harvey Mirror from Design Within Reach, hangs in perfect union above the Line Credenza.

The Dining Room

We laid out this floor plan, furnishings falling right into place; and now with a dining room that is both functional and beautiful! The proportion of the Eames Dining Room Chairs with George Nelson Swag Leg Table suit this room to a tea! Ah, change can be uplifting – especially when you gain a mountain view!

The Living Room

The Maxim Articulating Lamp from Jonathan Adler acts as an impetus for this room design. Decorative pillow fabrics guide this color scheme, with the Mid Century Modern backgammon pattern area rug setting the tone. A color scheme defined by the MCM style – the chartreuse, blues, ochre, and gold are in a love affair. The Harlequin brass Table Lamp and Triangle cocktail table from Jonathan Adler add a swanky vibe to this cool downtown pad.

The Bedroom

The bedroom is a place of rest amid this urban sky bound location! Behind closed doors it is quiet and dark – with black out window blinds, and a cozy bed to snuggle up in. This bedding is sumptuous, from Libeco and Turpault; complete with Jonathan Adler decorative pillows for lounging on a Saturday afternoon. We love these ceramic table lamps from Rook; string drum shades providing subdued evening light. It is a pleasure to lie in bed and watch the world go by, or to sit in the corner and read a good book. With both lake and city views, this walnut furnished bedroom is easy to hang out in and to have celestial dreams at 39 floors in the sky!
